The membership, communications, and events coordinator provides support for all areas of association management, including data, event planning, and marketing. It is the perfect position for someone to gain experience in many different areas in an association.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have superior attention to detail, and will hold themselves accountable for the work they need to accomplish. This person will be able to understand and differentiate from direction that comes from multiple sources and direct supervision. This person should also have emotional intelligence and workplace maturity.
The person ultimately chosen for this position will have some flexibility in creating processes and practices that provide greater efficiency and productivity.
The following is a list of some of the primary responsibilities of this position:
Manage the database to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and reliability
Ensure fulfillment of membership, sponsorship, and donation packages
Assist in the timely collection of membership and sponsorship payments
Prepare and distribute reports documenting progress and statistics of association development
Provide general office support to include answering phone, emails, and providing backup to other staff functions
Maintain ongoing knowledge of graphics arts industry
Maintain website and incorporate updates, new materials, and changes, as necessary
Search and collect relevant information to include in all association communications and publications
Serve as the point person for outsourced design and editorial services
Create and maintain schedule for communications to include deadlines and print requirements
Manage social media accounts
Support the facilitation of the annual print competition including, marketing, entry submissions, data management, winner notification, and event-related correspondence
Set-up online event registrations
Collaborate with director of association development in the planning and execution of all events and programs
Experience in multiple areas of job description; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Previous experience or skills in writing, designing, or marketing or knowledge of graphic arts a plus
Ability to differentiate and understand taking direction versus supervision
Creative and willing to suggest and initiate change
Patience, maturity, and determination
Work effectively both with and without direct supervision and efficiently in a team environment as well as independently
Experience in a small office/small association a plus
Ability to be a part of a contributing member of a team
