POSITION FUNCTION The Assistant Manager of Health Policy (“AMHP”) assists supervisors in the NASS Health Policy in the Burr Ridge, IL Office. Division in monitoring, educating, and advocating on health care issues. This includes insurance coverage trends, physician reimbursement levels, regulatory initiatives and any other issues important to NASS members. The AMHP also organizes and manages committee rosters, member database, committee/council/division meeting schedules and agendas, and provides comprehensive administrative support. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide administrative support to the Director of Health Policy and the Associate Executive Director of Health Policy. • Assist Director of Health Policy in supporting NASS volunteers with coverage documents (requires extensive reading and editing), payor policies and comments and the literature review process. • Assist Health Policy Division staff with volunteer member data updates, committee appointments/assignments, general and specific communications. • Assist Health Policy Division team with CRM updates and committee appointment processes for Health Policy department committees as assigned. • Administer disclosure process for Health Policy Council committees and act as primary contact for all disclosure-related updates for committees assigned. • Organize NASS leadership meetings with payors and other interested parties. • Primary staff for inquiries on NASS’ coverage efforts. Work closely with Director of Health Policy in developing appropriate responses for email/phone inquiries. • Collaborate with Health Policy Division staff in developing schedule for monthly newsletters and compiling/distributing content for each issue. • Oversee the NASS annual meeting schedule and logistics for Health Policy related events. • Provide customer service and assist members, staff and NASS volunteers. • Foster relationships with other societies to enhance collaboration and discussion on appropriate NASS positions on health policy, payor policy and reimbursement issues. • Monitor web sites of other medical associations for activities that may be beneficial to NASS members if modified for spine-care practitioners. • Collaborate with Health Policy Division staff to achieve common and overlapping goals and pursues direction necessary for growth and success as a department, division, and organization.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS
• Must possess excellent organizational skills; verbal and written communications skills. • Strong sense of commitment toward the organization and ability to handle multiple projects and demanding deadlines efficiently and effectively. • Must be able to identify problems, research alternatives, consult with peers, and implement solutions. • Knowledge of healthcare organizations and practices preferred. • Must be a team player and have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from all organizational levels. • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Constant Contact and CRM a plus. EDUCATION • Bachelor’s degree in health policy, administration, or related field required • Association management experience desired EXPERIENCE • 1-3 years of group practice or healthcare experience required
