The Division of Digital Communications and Online Strategy at the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s health care seeks a customer service focused Web Content Specialist. This position will provide content management and implementation of site features and functionality on AAP websites, including AAP.org, HealthyChildren.org, and HealthyChildren.org Español.
Some duties include: • Maintain, update, and post content on AAP websites utilizing the SharePoint content management system, including proofreading, reviewing website functionality, and ensuring that all content adheres to website style guides. • Troubleshoot common SharePoint and website issues, identify and implement solutions. Test functionality of website features to ensure site usability. • Build out webpages, layouts, and other web features for new subsites, refreshed content areas, web parts and other site functionality. Collaborate with editors and managers to organize content for new and refreshed subsites. • Create and manage team sites for AAP.org projects using SharePoint. • Collaborate with AAP IT staff to ensure websites are maintained in compliance with established internal guidelines and compatible with technical infrastructure. • Manage the AAP.org Website Request Form within the Public Affairs Portal, ensuring requests are handled in a timely manner. • Implement SEO best practices for all sites, including tagging, meta data and descriptions, ensuring compliance with established internal guidelines.
Candidates should possess the following: • Two to three years Web content management or online editorial experience required. • Bachelors degree in journalism, communications, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required. • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required. • Must pay close attention to detail and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Strong technical acumen required, including proficiency with MS Office and Web content management software (ie, SharePoint). • Knowledge of HTML Nintex, and Adobe Photoshop preferred. • Some overtime and weekend work may be required.
