We’re looking for a seasoned professional to fill the position of Conventions Manager based in New York. The key purpose of this role is to develop and implement marketing plans and sales activities that drive Convention business to Hong Kong and to reinforce Hong Kong’s position as the premier Convention destination in the Asia Pacific region.
*Solicit new association Convention business through sophisticated marketing programs/partnerships. * Promote Hong Kong through the development and execution of integrated sales and marketing strategies to position Hong Kong as the premier Convention destination in Asia Pacific * Promote HKTB products and services to Convention planners and event organizers * Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the services provided by MEHK and Hong Kong’s MICE product and service providers and promote same to top clients * Assist Convention planners with site inspections in coordination with MEHK Hong Kong office * Coordinate participation and represent HKTB at trade shows, Conventions, and other industry networking events as required * Coordinate and conduct sales trips to high potential markets and customers * Respond to RFPs, develop very compelling bids for Conventions as necessary * Promote attendance at select Conventions in Hong Kong through integrated campaigns * Review and maintain updated database of potential customers
* A university degree in related subject. * A proactive problem solver with a strong leadership approach. Well organized and ability to multi task and effectively prioritize projects * Strong rolodex and well known within the convention and meetings community. * 8-10 years of general MICE sales and marketing experience with a specialization in Convention sales at the NTO, CVB, PCO or convention facilities level. Association and meeting planning experience is also highly relevant. International experience, while not necessary, would be a plus. * Experience in developing sophisticated marketing plans to solicit convention leads/wins, including e-marketing, direct marketing, promotions, and database. Trade events management is required along with a strong convention sales background. * Must be conversant in the Microsoft Office suite of applications, especially Excel and POWERPOINT. * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Very strong administrative skills * A motivated self starter that can work independently, possesses outstanding interpersonal skills, results driven
