The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) is the professional home for Infectious Diseases scientists and physicians and currently has over 11,000 members. We are searching for a Manager of Development who will report to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), and support development and fundraising activities designed to expand the IDSA Foundation’s fundraising base and meet annual and multi-year revenue goals for the organization. The ideal candidate for this role can thrive both working independently and as part of a team, balance multiple priorities, and has strong oral and written communication skills.
Oversee relations with-and funding from-foundations by developing and overseeing the grant-writing process, including assisting with writing the annual grant budget and calendar, editing and writing grants and reports, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions and identifying and cultivating prospective foundations
Manage the written communication strategy for the IDSA Foundation’s year-end, email appeals
Manage the messaging for all fundraising campaign materials, case statements, and giving society brochures
Conduct donor/prospect research and meeting preparation; prepare and update biographical and philanthropic information for donors and prospective donors and ensure senior leaders have necessary information in advance of calls/meetings
Manage the donor engagement cycle for all key prospects throughout the cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship phase
Responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting annual and mid-level donors
Collaborate with program teams to develop evaluation and assessment strategies
Utilize financial and donor records to identify and reactivate lapsed and past donors
Utilize metrics and reporting to track progress towards goals, and to keep CDO apprised of successes and challenges
Continuously learn about new technologies and trends in the field; identify innovative solutions
Minimum Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree required and five years of progressive and relevant fundraising experience in a mission-oriented non-profit setting
Event management experience is highly desirable
Experience with programs such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator a plus
Demonstrated success in securing gifts from individuals and foundation grants
Proven ability to learn quickly and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
Excellent research, oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint
