To increase the reach, impact and visibility of ACMP through the delivery of high value and influential marketing, communications and PR, in the US and internationally. It is ACMP’s goal to increase membership, adoption of our professional credential and conference and finding new connections globally as well as to continue to increase customer loyalty (retention)
Expectations of this Role:
This role will lead this department area, which will consist of staff, contractors and volunteers to effectively develop strategy, messaging, policies, and best practices around all ACMP communication, marketing and branding efforts. This includes the development of not only ACMP’s story, content and overall marketing and communication plans but also the execution in digital media.
To achieve this, you will need a strong understanding of associations and work on a two-fold approach of marketing to new and potential customers and members, as well as develop and create outstanding communication to existing stakeholders such as current members, chapters, volunteers, etc. To be able to collaborate closely with peers and team members and be able to establish the marketing function while ACMP continues to increase available resources.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Director will work collaboratively across the organization to develop, implement, track and optimize marketing efforts and promotional campaigns for various products, programs, services, including membership.
They are responsible for taking business goals and turning them into marketing and communication objectives and strategies that facilitate growth, retention and engagement by leveraging insights from data and setting clear metrics for success.
They will oversee and manage marketing and promotional budgets to deliver against goals.
Lead, develop and coach marketing and communication staff and volunteer committees for creative, productive and effective results.
Make recommendations on marketing approaches to respond to changing business environments, market trends and a variety of stakeholders.
Oversee and manage organizational email strategy and email marketing automation platform, testing and optimizing data segmentation strategies, and ensuring best practices in email marketing.
Collaborate with various teams (both internal and external) to develop content strategy. Responsible also for execution of the strategy.
Ensures effective control of marketing results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.
Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions
Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and marketing programs.
Responsible for all aspects from creation to execution of outstanding communication to existing stakeholders to increase value of membership, partnership, and participation with ACMP.
This person will be the owner of all marketing and messaging platforms and be able to research and recommend appropriate, cost-effective measures to enhance ACMP’s presence.
The director will develop the brand strategy and overall look and feel of ACMP marketing and communication efforts, with a graphic designer as needed.
Work with conference department to showcase ACMP’s offerings at conference events including but not limited to general session scripting, booth development and management, session development of content and slides and messaging.
Required Skills and Experience
Association experience (or equivalent) required
Experience telling a story using words, images and/or video and an understanding of how to create content that draws an audience, leveraging analytics to direct continuous improvement
Degree in Marketing, Media, PR, Communications or Journalism required
Have a very good understanding of social media and digital marketing and communication platforms
Strategic, creative thinker with proven experience working on a diverse and wide-ranging communication strategies across all forms of media
Strong management and leadership skills. Able to hire and lead a team of volunteers and/or staff
Experience in marketing and communications for an international audience
Can present and report to a Board of Directors and other C-Level executives
Strong organizational and project management skills, able to plan, meet deadlines, prioritize projects
Experience measuring the impact of communication products and strategies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing and proof reading
The ability to build and maintain highly effective working relationships with a range of people (both internally and externally)
Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
Ability to develop creative ideas and transform them into practical reality
Will travel to events to represent ACMP, as well as other meetings such as Board of Director meetings.
Education: Relevant Bachelor’s Degree Preferred e.g. Marketing/Media/PR/Communications/Journalism
Experience: 10+ years in recent relevant position(s), with evidence of continuing education

Experience in optimizing digital marketing e.g. optimizing web results
Experience in creating a brand and developing a marketing and communication style guide
Experience in managing PR and press relations
Awareness of the profession of Change Management and basic principles
