AACC, a DC-based dynamic, growing international scientific/medical society of clinical laboratory professionals, physicians, research scientists focused on clinical chemistry and related disciplines, is seeking an experienced Manager, Scientific Divisions.
The Manager, Scientific Divisions, is responsible for the management and oversight of the 20 AACC divisions. This includes serving as the primary point of contact and staff liaison for all division activities - primarily budget preparation, approval, and management; governance - implementing elections and documenting outcomes, managing bylaws and process/procedure documents, planning and organizing business meetings; program development and implementation, including webinars and events at the Annual Scientific Meeting; and annual reports. Additionally, the manager will identify and implement process improvements - including but not limited to aligning division elections and term lengths to those of AACC (to the extent reasonable and acceptable to the divisions), standardizing practices among the divisions including bylaws/process/procedure documents, budget practices, etc. The manager will work closely with the associate director, science & practice programs, to fully leverage the Science & Practice Core Committee and the divisions' involvement in the association. The manager will also work with members of AACC’s education staff to implement division educational programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains good relationships with the leadership of AACC’s 20 scientific divisions, communicating regularly and providing expert staff support for the division leaders.
Ensures division processes are implemented in a timely and effective manner; these include governance processes, budget development, annual report, business and scientific meetings, and educational programs.
Coordinates division activities related to the Annual Scientific Meeting, including the planning and implementation of division programs at the ASM.
With the associate director, science & practice programs, ensures that division oversight is consistent and transparent, and maximizes integration of the divisions into AACC’s scientific activities.
Coordinates with AACC education staff for the implementation of division education programs.
Implements process improvements, such as standardization of processes across divisions and with AACC.
Travel to AACC’s Annual Scientific Meeting required; additional travel might also be required.
The Manager, Scientific Divisions must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. S/he must be versed in association management concepts and committed to outstanding member relations. Ability to communicate clearly and to recognize and convey nuance in written and spoken communications. Adept with budgets, reports, and administrative processes.
