The Director, Building Systems Council will be responsible for developing, organizing, directing, and coordinating staff, programs, and activities of the Building Systems Councils (BSC) of NAHB. He/she will manage the business of the membership BSC Board of Trustees and Councils, prioritize activities and issues, and direct implementation of BSC Strategic Plan and the priorities of five industry councils, three subcommittees, and one coalition. The Director will manage the resources of the department and will be responsible for achieving economical, productive performance, and growth of programs. The Director will also oversee membership development and retention, and develop all member programs and services. He/she will serve as the spokesperson for the systems-built housing industry working with members and staff throughout the organization and federation to achieve consensus on issues and to ensure BSC priorities align with NAHB priorities.
Qualified candidates must have strong communication and consensus building skills, with the ability to develop and market member products and services to increase membership and revenue. The ideal candidate will also be a quick learner with the ability to absorb new information, manage complex programs and establish productive working relationships with builders, other executives, and trade, industry and governmental groups.
A minimum of five years of related experience, managing professional staff and budget resources, is required. Knowledge of the building industry and knowledge of systems-built housing and/or regulatory and legal issues surrounding systems-built housing are a plus. A bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent in education and experience, is required.
