Large association is seeking a Regional Field Representative to support local and state affiliated home building associations in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia and would be based in one of the listed states. The successful candidate will build relationships with local and state association staff and members to understand their unique needs and to connect them to any resources and services that would help strengthen the local association, memberships, and relationships with the national association, other affiliated associations and members. The Field Representative will represent the national association and its various programs and services. Candidates must be able to generally maintain a heavy travel schedule.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Initiate, develop and maintain constructive relationships with local and state association staff and volunteer leadership in assigned region.
Support local and state association staff and members by increasing awareness of national products and services as well as compatible state resources.
Facilitate presentations on key strategies as well as best practices in areas such as membership recruitment and retention while effectively articulating the relevance and value of national membership.
Help local and state associations improve overall management operations by highlighting industry and association management best practices and assisting the staff in identifying and addressing areas for desired improvement.
Skills and Experience
Excellent relationship building and customer service skills in order to understand customer needs and develop a partnership of mutual respect and trust; connect them with experts and other resources to resolve their problems and issues.
Superior written and interpersonal communication skills with a familiarity and comfort in public speaking. Speaks and writes clearly, concisely, and persuasively and listens actively to customers.
Ability to synthesize a large amount of information given the complexity of issues and the diversity of resources offered throughout the organization.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines with consistent follow-through.
Independent, disciplined and self-motivated with availability to travel extensively (generally expected to be on the road at least 75% of the year including overnights and occasional weekends).
Competent with technology including an understanding of app and social media integration in a professional environment, Microsoft Office, CRM and various means of mobile connectivity.
One to three (preferably three to five) years’ experience in a member service-oriented environment, preferably in association management, chapter relations or related area; experience with volunteer organizations and familiarity with boards of directors a plus.
Must reside in the region and near a major airport hub for easy access and cost effective travel to affiliated associations in the assigned territory.
