The Allegheny County Medical Society (ACMS), a voluntary professional membership organization offering leadership and advocacy services to physicians and their patients, is seeking candidates for the position of Executive Director.
Founded in 1865, ACMS represents over 2,700 members and is recognized as one of the nation’s premier medical societies and a highly effective advocate for the medical profession and the communities it serves. ACMS has stimulated much activity and study of numerous medical issues, and has enjoyed steady growth and stability as well as a respected position in the Pittsburgh region health care community.
Reporting directly to the President and Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for implementing initiatives aimed at achieving the mission, goals and policies of the ACMS through mobilizing the expertise of the membership, deployment of staff, and management of fiscal resources. He/she will work closely with the Board of Directors, members and health care partners to further the Society’s goals and objectives, and be energized by current challenges and work collaboratively with members and staff to cultivate trusting and cohesive relationships in western Pennsylvania and with peers statewide and nationally.
ACMS is seeking candidates with a distinguished record of executive leadership and successful management in a member-supported professional organization, or physician-centric health care entity. Candidates should present a keen appreciation for the health care and professional services fields and cultures.
