The Membership and Communications Coordinator is often the first person our members encounter, and we rely on you to make sure they receive excellent customer service as you play a key role in bringing value to their membership and supporting their important work. This is an ideal position for a recent graduate who is looking to gain excellent experience and make a meaningful contribution.
This position ensures the efficient day-to-day operation of society headquarters office and supports the work of all staff on membership functions and operations, encompassing member acquisition and renewal, database management, office management and program/project management as needed.
Proactively builds and employs knowledge of all aspects Society’s mission and activities.
Supports Society members with their online experience including account/profile management, membership applications, membership renewals and collection of demographic information.
Continuously improves customer service experience by evaluating and re-designing processes; establishing and communicating service metrics; monitoring and analyzing results; and implementing changes.
Responsible for database management to include knowledge of data maintenance, event management, order processing, member updates, list management and reporting.
Responsible for responding to queries and maintaining accurate, detailed records of these exchanges in a timely and professional manner.
Works with the Director of Membership to develop and execute communications strategies that advance the Society's strategic plan and society objectives.
Collaborate with staff and external vendors on the creation of audience-appropriate messages, retention and recruitment of members and attendees and effective use of communications tactics.
Assist in the development and implementation of digital strategies to achieve exposure goals, including the use of the website, email automation and social media.
Work with staff to produce reports, including providing substantive feedback, editing, audience identification, and design and production oversight.
Support administrative aspects of meetings, including registrations, confirmations, badges, evaluations, and preparation and mailing of materials.
Oversees office maintenance, including upkeep of the office environment, sorting and distributing incoming mail, maintaining office supplies and inventory, equipment maintenance, vendors and preparing shipments US/UPS/Fed Ex packages.

Education and experience:
Associates degree in a field such as communications or database administration or five years’ experience in association communications or membership experience in lieu of a degree.
Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel, as well as member databases.
Working knowledge of WYSYG editors.
Experience in office procedures and use of office equipment.
Superior customer service and interpersonal skills, including a pleasant and professional telephone manner.
Ability to travel (<5% of time).
