The National Grants Management Association (NGMA), a growing membership association based in Sterling, VA, has an immediate opening for a full-time, telecommuting (work from home), Website and Graphic Designer. This position reports to NGMA’s Executive Director but supports NGMA's Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and members.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and independently from a home office. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
WEBSITE MAINTENANCE – Maintains, updates, and creates original graphics on NGMA's website through WordPress and a CMS (currently Abila netForum transitioning to MemberClicks) including monitoring regular backups, keeping WordPress plugins current, updating events and website information on a continuous basis. Must be able to upload and customize a WordPress theme.
EMAIL BLASTS – Creates email blasts as needed, including weekly blasts, special new blasts, event blasts/invites, confirmation notices, etc. through HTML coding.
SOCIAL MEDIA/WEBSITE - Provides updates and suggestions to enhance NGMA’s website. Manages and maintains NGMA’s social media pages including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and other similar community social sites. Supports the stand-up of NGMA's member-only Social Community (NGMA Network), including posting of announcements, events, resources, and other information for members.
MARKETING MATERIALS – Designs and manages production of marketing materials as requested. This includes items such as brochures, banners, podium signs, and other signage as requested.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE SUPPORT - Designs and manages the production of NGMA's Annual Conference Program, PowerPoint presentation template, awards, invitations, etc. Onsite attendance at NGMA's Annual Training in Arlington, VA the full week after Easter 2019 and 2020 is required.
Assists with other projects as assigned.
Candidate will preferably live and be able to work from a home office in the DC/VA/MD area. NGMA's Executive Director works in Sterling, VA.
Candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Three to five years experience working as a website and graphic designer in a membership association.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently on a variety of concurrent tasks from a home office.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in WordPress, Abila Netforum, MemberClicks, HTML, CSS, SSL, Adobe Creative Suite (Primarily Illustrator and InDesign), Microsoft Office including Word and PowerPoint.
Knowledge and understanding of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
Experience with membership software, preferably MemberClicks.
NGMA is currently in a data transition including the moving of our website from WordPress and Abila to MemberClicks platform. The Web Design and Graphic Designer has the flexibility to work full-time from a home office, with normal business hours. Ability to travel to Sterling, VA preferred.
