Join the AMA team as the Director, Business Development in Physician Engagement. As part of the team, you will expand sales and awareness of the American Medical Association (AMA) group membership opportunities in the healthcare industry. You will develop and execute a strategy to implement a long-term approach to cultivating current and future customer relationships. You will lead team to maximize AMA’s market share and revenue through sales, promotion and contract negotiations for AMA’s group membership to meet financial and operational goals. In coordination with senior management, call on, establish, manage and maintain ongoing relationships of existing and new accounts.
Other Responsibilities will include:
Strategically target new business prospects and cultivate relationships with accounts to better promote AMA offerings. Generate new leads for AMA group membership through researching health system and medical groups and individuals online to determine organization needs and who makes decisions about membership partnership purchasing. Contact potential opportunities via email or phone to establish rapport and set up meetings. Identify and attend conferences, meetings and industry events that provide networking and relationship development opportunities. Create and deliver informative presentations to potential clients effectively. Manage monthly/quarterly pipeline.
Manage all elements of the PE Talent Strategy for direct reports to including sourcing and selecting, developing and coaching, rewarding and recognizing, and optimizing talent to ensure maximization of productivity, engagement and development of assigned team members.
Contribute to sales and marketing strategy and competitive analysis by providing/reporting trend information and market intelligence gained through the course of doing business. Offer ideas regarding new products and product enhancements to maximize revenue and customer satisfaction. Capture, quantify, and present account specific trends and insights with team.
Work with current group membership partners to ensure customer satisfaction goals are achieved.Create an awareness of client’s specific goals and needs and ensure opportunities within group membership agreement are utilized. Establish strong relationships with leadership at current accounts with the objective of capturing referral assistance for additional account acquisition.
Manage and document activity related to new business and customer relationship management in SalesForce. This includes meeting and call activity, and creation of new group membership opportunities.
Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field
Minimum 7 -10 years of business-to-business direct sales, product development, business development and/or marketing experience with emphasis in the health insurance or hospital market preferred. Established industry contracts in the targeted marketplace, preferred.
Minimum 7 years previous experience in leading work teams to include sourcing and selecting, developing and coaching, rewarding and recognizing, and optimizing talent, required.
Strong business acumen; demonstrated success in working on/with operational key account management, marketing, business or finance roles.
Polished selling skills, including strong presentation and persuasion skills with C- Level executives. Demonstrated ability to initiate, negotiate, and close sales and strategic partnerships with large corporate accounts. Able to relate well with all levels ofcustomers, required.
In-depth understanding of current environment in healthcare delivery for insurance and managed care organizations including accreditation standards, data needs for network management, departmental coding requirements and support needs,etc, required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially in direct sales and customer relations, required.
Self-motivation and exceptional time management skill to achieve individual and organizationalgoals required.
Excellent independent multi-tasking capability and organization skills. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and problem solve effectively withoutsupervision, required.
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Salesforce CRM required.
