The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Controller with the day to day accounting operations and with the FAH’s annual audit responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Process cash receipt batches for membership, conference and miscellaneous deposits.
Generate invoices for quarterly membership dues and reimbursements of shared expenses.
Obtain completed W-9 forms for new vendors and update the accounting software with the correct tax information.
Reconcile the corporate Diner’s Club and American Express accounts.
Review all payable entries to ensure authorization, support, and accurate coding is recorded for all invoices, check requests and expense reports.
Prepare weekly check run through Microsoft Dynamics SL and update supporting schedules in Excel.
Maintain filing system for financial records.
Prepare journal entries related to the month-end and year-end closings.
Reconcile bank and investment statements monthly.
Assist the Controller in the preparation of schedules for the worker's compensation, preliminary and annual audits.
Perform 941 reconciliations.
Assist in managing short-term cash needs.
Perform other duties as requested.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting.
At least three years of non-profit accounting experience.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics SL.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles).
Ability to multi-task.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
Applies good judgment with problem-solving and critical thinking skills, strong work ethic, highly organized, detail oriented and produces accurate work products.
