The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) located in the DC-metro area seeks a Learning Director, Conferences who is tech-savvy, entrepreneurial, reliable, and results-oriented to join our learning team. A senior management position on the ASAE learning team, reporting to the chief learning officer, this team member directs the organization’s professional development offerings and programming that is delivered through conferences such as the ASAE Annual Meeting, Great Ideas Conference and Technology Conference.
The director of conference provides overall management and support for the production and implementation of all educational conference programs and will develop learning content that is consistent with the mission, strategic goals and operating standards of ASAE. You will investigate and develop content delivery models and topical areas that are responsive to the needs of the membership and that meet the programmatic and fiscal goals of the Association. Day-to-day activities will include program design, budgeting, educational content development, copy writing/editing, instructional design, speaker management and data analytics. This position is NOT directly responsible for marketing/promotion, site evaluation/selection, on-site logistics, exhibit sales/management, sponsorships/advertising) yet as project lead, you will guide and support project team members (such as a meeting planner, marketing manager, registrar, partnership professional, research specialist) across a range of other departments to drive project outcomes and team success.
The successful candidate will have 6-8+ years of progressively responsible experience in successful conference education planning, development, and management in membership-based, non-profit organizations.
Must be based in the DC-metro area, and be able to occasionally to travel or work on weekends when necessitated by an event.
Must have strong knowledge of training best practices including instructional design, learning assessment, curriculum development and contemporary practices in adult learning.
Must be proactive, highly motivated and collaborative, always maintain composure and radiating a positive can-do attitude.
Must be adept at successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously with an eye for details under sometime aggressive timelines.
Must demonstrate strong problem solving, customer service and analytical skills.
Must be tech-savvy, highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Office 365 preferred), working knowledge of leading social media platforms, and comfortable with business (Aptify preferred) or educational technology applications that support process efficiencies and/or member learning and engagement.
Must have proven experience working successfully in a volunteer-centric organization, to include strong knowledge of committee management, content leader management, and contract negotiations.
