Position Summary: Interel is seeking an experienced Manager, State Affairs to work within the PFC team to develop and implement strategic government relations activities in key states as part of a national state-based health care campaign. The Manager, State Affairs will work to advance policies that enhance protections for patients from gaps in insurance coverage, provide for greater transparency in the health care system, and ensure access to care through adequate provider reimbursement. This individual will also represent PFC at select external events, assist in overseeing PFC government relations consultants in the states, and work in tandem with team partners to continue to build the organization and the campaign. _______________________________________________________________
Provide strategic guidance and feedback to state advocacy and overall campaign efforts.
As a registered lobbyist, advocate for PFC policies.
Manage PFC in-state lobbyists in assigned states.
Build provider and consumer coalition support and implement grassroots activities in assigned states. Travel required.
Provide staff support for PFC’s Board and Member Committees, including scheduling committee conference calls, facilitating meetings, drafting minutes, providing expertise, and conducting research for decision-making.
Routinely monitor state and federal legislative and regulatory activity dealing with PFC issues.
Works closely PFC’s Vice-President, State Affairs, as well as with PFC’s President and CEO.
Other assignments as required and necessary.

5-7 combined years of experience working in a state legislature or on Capitol Hill, and/or lobbying at the state or federal level. State legislative experience preferred.
Strong understanding of state and federal legislative processes.
Knowledge of health care policy required.
Issue campaign experience a plus.
Strong writing and overall excellent communications skills.
Highly organized and detailed oriented.
Proactive and willing to accept responsibilities and assignments.
