The Senior Vice President of Member Services is a dynamic, entrepreneurial, department leader with proven ability to create value solutions that significantly enhances the return members receive from their AALU investments. This individual is responsible for developing and executing a strategy for a suite of innovative and synergistic products and services. This role will be filled with an experienced servant leader who has built and managed a team of professionals and who has worked collaboratively with cross-functional business units.
Develop an overall strategy for the products and services that AALU provides to its members that create value to grow their practices. The strategy should be tailored to the marketplace and experience of current and prospective members and should leverage all personnel and financial investment, as well as, the thought leadership with the AALU membership.
Lead and coach the member services team and ensure that team members grow and are encouraged to be entrepreneurs within their respective responsibilities. The collective results from the team should continue to evolve in alignment with market dynamics, technology changes, and internal and external expectations.
Work with the AVP of Client Experience to develop and implement a product and content roadmap that takes advantage of existing resources, particularly the thought leadership within the membership, to effectively refine existing products while launching new ones.
Work with the AVP of Meetings and Events to develop an overall Annual Meeting and conference strategy that considers AALU’s competitive advantages, but also the competition and challenges.
Ensure that all products and services provided throughout the year and at the Annual Meeting are complimentary with both each other and are integrated with the membership and annual meeting revenue strategies.
Develop more effective systems to integrate members and sales team input and feedback into the products and services AALU provides.
Devise and execute an affinity plan with full consideration for business and organizational context.
Ensure effective management of all content vendors so that the products provided to the AALU membership are cost effectively delivering value.
Perform all managerial functions for the Member Services Department, including developing and managing department budget, performance reviews, expense management, etc.
Collaborate with cross-function business units including communications, business development and marketing, and IT to align on product priorities and enable successful product launches.
A strong work ethic demonstrated by 10 or more years of experience in delivering member services for an association or product development/training in a financial services company.
Strong leadership skills with a servant leader mindset, excellent listening ability, and an ability to inspire and motivate teams drive results.
An effective collaborator and relationship builder who has both the ability to connect with colleagues throughout the organization, but also within the membership and broader industry.
Some understanding of the life insurance industry and how life insurance products are distributed is required.
Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to see the big picture but not afraid to get into the details.
A./B.S. in business, marketing/communications, or education, is required. Advanced degree in relevant field preferred.
