IEEE is looking for a self-starter who can actively market and build a membership network focused on connecting new members, as well as support and retain existing members. This includes the development and execution of programs that support the Communications Society conferences and events.
This position works very closely with the Director of Marketing and Membership and volunteer leadership to develop the strategy and tactics necessary to achieve the above stated accountability.
Collaborates with the Director of Marketing and Membership to develop and implement strategies for cultivation of new members and retention of existing members, including regular solicitation of member feedback and the creation of new member benefits.
Participates in the strategies, tactics and analysis necessary to deliver the best membership experience, including streamlining the on-boarding of prospective members as well as enhancing the engagement and retention of current members
In partnership with the Director of Marketing and Membership and volunteer leadership, develop the value proposition for the Communications Society membership. In collaboration with Marketing, generate materials that communicate the organization’s values and culture to prospects and other 3rd parties, develop communications and outreach plans to enhance member involvement, and help enrich the experience throughout the entire membership lifecycle
Devises and proposes the appropriate portfolio of members’ benefits, tailoring the appropriate balance of benefits to the diverse constituency of the Society.
In partnership with the Director of Marketing and Membership and volunteer leadership, seeks new opportunities and maintains relationships with industry, government, academia, and other related institutions to increase awareness of and participation in the Society
Collects, reviews, and analyzes all membership analytics and uses same to improve ability to achieve results, substantiate progress against the membership goals, and measure outcomes; Drive the periodic survey of our past, present, and potential membership to assess needs and attitudes
Drives continuous creativity across all channels to grow membership against all segments
Ensures robust membership activities and member engagement occur at all main Society conferences to promote and build awareness of the Society and its programs
Maintains regular member outreach with chapters and sister societies in addition to individual members
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Management, related field or equivalent experience
4-7 years of experience in membership development and retention.
A minimum of 4 years of large non-profit or association management experience.
At least 2 years of experience using CRM platforms
Experience working with membership base
Trade show experience is a plus
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated interpersonal skills within and across organizations
Strong analytic skills
Strong project/program management skills (from creation to implementation)
Strong skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Demonstrated performance in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
Domestic and international travel to attend major meetings and conferences required.
